Zoology is the
scientific study of all aspects of animal life that include Evolution,
Paleontology, Ecology, Developmental Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Physiology,
Parasitology, Microbiology, Economic Zoology, Zoogeography, Entomology,
Fisheries, Wildlife and Freshwater Biology. The study of Zoology can play a
significant role in alleviation of poverty, food security, development of human
resources, sustainable development, and conservation of environment. This
discipline emphasis on the protection, conservation, and proper management of
animal fauna, therefore a career in it makes the graduates eco-friendly. Human society in the 21st century faces some
major problems like population growth, increasing resource use, global climate
change, premature extinction of plants and animals, pollution, and poverty, to
mention just a few. Zoology is an integral part of natural sciences, and is
helpful in identifying, understanding, and solving real world problems
exemplified above. To face the current challenges, we must prepare our students
for understanding sustainability and stewardship as well as precautionary principles.
The department of Zoology Possess regular faculty members
with PhD Qualifications. The department is now a full pledged department and runs
several programs i.e., BS Morning, BS Evening, M. Sc, ADS/BS 5th Semester,
M. Phil, and PhD Program.
